In order to check the performance of the campaign, we need to track the user's journey from impression > click > install > in-app action by adding tracking links to the creative groups. In this section, we will learn how to integrate tracking links with creative groups as well as how to validate the tracking links to ensure they are working properly.

Registering Tracking Links
Note: You need to set separate tracking links for different operating systems (Android and iOS).
One on the main the Home page, refer to the following steps to add a new tracking link:
-
Select the Ad Account from the drop down menu.
-
Select the Assets tab.
- Select the Tracking Links tab from the side menu.
-
Click the Create button.
-
Select the App the tracking links are for and input the requested information such as the title, tracking company as well as the tracking links.
-
Select Submit to create the tracking links.
-
Select the Edit button to edit a previously created tracking link.
Tracking Link Validation
This step is to check if the registered tracking link is correctly integrated by sending the attributed events to MOLOCO cloud.
Tip : A link test is recommended to accurately measure the performance of the ads.
Note: We recommend resetting the ADID of the test device for App Install campaigns when validating the tracking links. If the device is registered as a test device in the MMP, it is not necessary to reset the ADID.
-
Go to the Home page.
-
Select the Ad Account from the drop down menu.
-
Select the Assets tab.
- Select the Tracking Links tab from the side menu.
-
Find the Tracking Link you want to validate from the list of Tracking Links and click the
button under the action column.
-
Input the ADID for the CT link test.
Note: The OS of the test device must be the same as the product selected in step 3.
-
Click SEND. Once you press send, you will be shown the following screen:
-
Access your MOLOCO Cloud email account from the test device and click on the Resolved URL Link.
Tip: During this step, MOLOCO Cloud is sending the information such as the ADID, click attribution data and other required information to the MMP though the tracking link.
-
Download the app from the Google Play store / App store
-
Open the installed app.
Tip: The MMP will send the ADID and install information through Postback data to MOLOCO Cloud.
Why is it required to open the app?The exact information regarding an app install is only known to the app market and is unknown to the MMP and MOLOCO Cloud. Therefore, most MMPs consider an install to be complete after a user has installed and opened the app. (An install is equivalent to a first open by MMP standards.)
-
Select the Refresh button and check if the Status has been updated to Verified.
What does it mean if the Tracking Link does not verify? The verification of a tracking link does not indicate whether or not the tracking link is working but the purpose is to check if the correct data is coming in from the link. It is possible to add an unverified tracking link to a creative group in a campaign. However, it is highly recommended to perform the link test and check the validation before implementing it in a campaign.
There can be various reasons that a tracking link will not verify. Find the solutions for each case explained below.
-
If the app link is not valid in the country of the test device
→ Try the link test again with a device that has access to the local app store connected to the product (app). It is possible to use VPN, if needed.
-
If the ADID that clicked the link differs from the ADID registered for the link test
→ Check if you have registered the ADID for the click test correctly.
-
If the app is already installed on the test device
→ If the app is already installed on the test device, delete the app and reset the advertising ID (ADID) of the test device and try the link test again.
Tip: If you are using an MMP that allows the registration of Test Devices, we recommend registering the ADID of the test device(s) in advance.
